O.M.T.

Hello readers!

So I am wondering as I stroll through my social sites this morning how some people think that spamming actually works. I counted as I visited some friends profiles to leave comments, and to my surprise almost all of them had SPAM comments on their pages.

Do people really think that this is a serious way to get people to visit their websites? I mean all it does is upset and frustrate most people that I know including myself!

If I wanted to be spammed like that, I would read every email that ends up in my Junk mail!

So how DO you successfully use Social networks to build your business?

Well the FIRST thing that you need to realize and understand is that the people on the other end of the screen that you are posting on...are in fact...believe it or not...ready??

REAL PEOPLE!!!

Yes that's right they are REAL! They are not some robot that sites there begging for your link to a better life and financial freedom! I am sorry to tell you that because obviously some people must really believe that...

So you have to TREAT them like real people. How would you approach a potential new friend in a grocery store? Or at a diner? Would you just walk up to them and say "Hey my name is David Foster. Please visit my website and learn how you can make a lot of money right now working from home. Did you know that the job market...puke puke puke..."

Could you imagine the reaction that you would get if you DID do that?? I think some people may even smack you...I would not suggest that you go out and try it, but as sure as I sit here I KNOW there are people out there who do! =-)

So when you are on a social networking site next time, try browsing around and actually reading some people's pages. Look at what they are interested in. Look for commonalities. Do you both like animals? Well then send them a message telling them how much you loved their pictures of their dog...you will get a response so quickly it isn't funny!

Guess what you are doing now? You are building relationships!! You just became real to them and once they answer and you start chatting, they just became real to you...

So then over time, JUST by having a link to your website on your profile these people will naturally...and you know they will because I bet YOU do it too, visit your page and browse to get to know YOU better and what will they do??? That's right they WILL eventually click on your link.

That is the BEST way to approach social networking, because you HAVE to be social. When you spam, that is more anti-social.

Now once you have established yourself then sometimes you can send down a link when you establish yourself with people, but only to people who expect it...not the new person who does not even know you yet...

You see, you really want to get the most out of these sites, and utilize them as marketing tools, which they most certainly are, then use them the right way. Establish real friendships with people and build a SOCIAL network and not an ANTI social one!!

I am going to be covering a method to structuring your sites so that you can be organized.

David, spammers drive me nuts, especially when they send invites to facebook or twitter. I am taking the time to ignore or remove them..

It is tough to seperate the wheat from the chaff, which is why it is so important to learn effective ways to promote without being obnoxious!

I'd add that a canned personal message is not as bad as the blatantly commercial profile stamp.

Profile Stamping (the tactic of going to everyones profile, one by one and stamping it with a canned message) is a pet peeve of mine. I liken those messages to fliers found under my windshield wipers at the mall. yeeeesh.

Once again thanks David. I have been wandering around in face book and twitter and have been most confused as to who and what is accaptable and permissable. So orgainization of some kind would be helpful. This is all very new to me, but I am a willing learner best Claire

I agree. Spammers are like people who ring your door bell and run. Annoying to say the least. They also give the rest of us a bad name and make it more difficult to get the word out about great opportunities.
